"Hei An Ju Isui"
The workshop of Zenji Imamura, who made a living creating fabric for Kyoto armor, began making Kyoto armor, and the current head is the fourth generation, Tatsujin Imamura.
Renowned in the Kyoto armor world, he has inherited the traditional techniques from the second-generation master Seiji Sawai and the third-generation master Masao Imamura, both of whom are highly acclaimed and whose names are still well known. While preserving these traditional skills, his unique evolving style combines a graceful elegance that contrasts with the robust image typically associated with armor, leaving a sleek impression on viewers.

He is recognized as a Kyoto armor traditional craftsman certified by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. To date, he has exhibited numerous works at various exhibitions, including the National Convention of Traditional Craftsmen, earning high praise. He is one of Kyoto’s leading armor craftsmen.

In the past, armor was imbued with various meanings—symbolizing status, honor, and dignity, as well as serving as a guardian for prosperity of descendants.
Even as times change, the armor crafted with heartfelt dedication by Isui represents a wish for children’s healthy growth and success. It will surely protect until they grow up splendidly.

Furthermore, this spirit is passed down through armor from parent to child, and from child to grandchild, through the medium of armor.
Born in the city of pure waters and lush mountains, Heian, like the water flowing steadily from the eastern foothills of Mount Higashiyama, naturally and without resistance, pouring into the eternal and vast ocean.
With the aspiration that human conduct can be as generous as this, the name "Isui" is given, meaning "one water."

**Kamakura Period (13th–14th century) - National Treasure**
*Red Threaded O-yoroi (Great Armor with Bamboo and Sparrow Metalwork, Bamboo Tora Armor)*
This is one of the most famous armor designated as a national treasure, housed at Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara Prefecture.
It features detailed decorative metal fittings based on bamboo, tigers, and sparrows, with additional motifs such as wisteria, paulownia, chrysanthemums, and butterflies placed throughout. The large, wide kabuto (helmet) with its expansive crest is breathtaking.

The deep crimson silk thread still retains a fiery red hue, and in terms of splendor, it is known as one of Japan’s finest examples.
The large metal fittings inspired by the "Bamboo with Tiger" design on the large sleeve are particularly striking.
The humorous expression of the tiger contrasts with the sharp-eyed sparrows, adding an interesting touch.
Many armor craftsmen have studied, replicated, and published reproductions of this national treasure, using it as a model.

**Natural Wood, Rustic Walnut Tansu**
*This product uses "Walnut Tansu."*

**The Pinnacle of Tansu Work: "Kichōmento"**
"Meticulous" refers to doing things accurately and carefully, and this term originates from this process.
Such detailed decoration as seen in "Kichōmento" requires craftsmen to work precisely; if not, the beauty cannot be achieved.
This meticulous craftsmanship has led to the phrase "a meticulous person" to describe someone who does things properly and seriously.

**Kyoto Kitamura Shōgetsu-do**
Founded in 1871 (Meiji 4). It has supplied the Imperial family and various noble households, receiving praise and recognition.
During the Meiji era, the first generation derived the dimensions of hina dolls’ folding screens from a Byōbu (folding screen) at Honma Byōbu and spread them nationwide.
The second-generation head, Shōji Kitamura, can be seen making screens at the Kyoto National Museum.
In Taisho 14 (1925), the third-generation head, Shinichi Kitamura, trained at Oshima Kōdō (now the Cultural Property Restoration Office) and took over the family business.

Before the war, the company was involved in all aspects of mounting and seasonal screens, but after the war, it specialized solely in seasonal screens (the only such specialist in Kyoto).
The fourth-generation head, Norihisa Kitamura, is a certified traditional craftsman designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, specializing in hina dolls’ screens, and is unique in Kyoto.

With a history spanning over 140 years, the craftsmanship cultivated over generations is evident throughout the screens produced by Kitamura Shōgetsu-do.
