In addition to the Yuji Ohno Trio – Yuji Ohno (Piano), Yoshio Suzuki (Wood Bass), Kenichiro Murata (Drums) – three guest vocalists participate in 4 out of the 10 tracks, singing Lupin songs in English versions. Listeners should also note TOKU, who sings "Treasures Of Time (炎のたからもの)" on this album. TOKU is known for flugelhorn and vocals, and broke out as a solo artist shortly after this release. Also featured are Riletto, who sings two songs, and Cynthia Duberry, a Black female singer who performs the main theme.

This is a legitimate jazz album featuring "Lupin the Third" songs by the Yuji Ohno Trio, led by Yuji Ohno, who is widely renowned as a composer for works such as "Lupin the Third," "The Inugami Family's Conspiracy," "Proof of the Man," "A Small Journey," and "Mizumore Kosuke."
It's a major hit that has achieved rare sales figures for a jazz CD in recent years. While it's true that the "Lupin" effect is a contributing factor, and some may frown upon this, he is currently the jazz pianist most supported by a wide audience, from young people to the general public, in Japan's jazz live scene. Furthermore, since he himself composes the music for Lupin, there's no room for complaint.
More importantly, perhaps it's an overstatement, but isn't his presence necessary for jazz music, which could be said to be in a critical condition in Japan today? It's needed to break down the strange preconceived notion that has taken deep root in Japan of trying to categorize music within the framework of "genres," and to allow people to enjoy music purely.
