About the artist
This is the third album by Pedro & Capriccio, released in May 1973. From this album, the vocalist changed from Yoko Maeno to Mariko Takahashi (at the time written as Mari Takahashi). The album is filled with Takahashi Mariko’s fresh singing voice when she was still in her early twenties, making it her memorable debut album. It mainly features her hit song “Message to Johnny,” along with covers of Michel Polnareff’s “Holiday of Love,” Carole King’s “Your Friend,” and hits by The Carpenters such as “Superstar,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Queen of Sheba,” and “The Godfather [Love Theme],” consisting of movie theme songs and foreign covers. This time, as bonus tracks, six songs are included: the single “My Town c/w Loving Honey,” which was not included in the original album; the hit “Goodbye Red Rose” sung by Yoko Maeno (version by Mari Takahashi); and the rare live recording from 1975, “Marie on Fifth Avenue,” which had not been released on CD before. Additionally, the album has been newly digitally remastered from the original master tapes into high-quality sound, and finally reissued with a carefully designed paper jacket for the first CD release.
