15曲あるルイ・シュポア(1784-1859)のヴァイオリン協奏曲は、すでに999657(6枚組)としてパッケージ化されていましたが、今回は以降に録音された遺作集と、ヴァイオリンのためのいくつかの小品、そして2台ヴァイオリンのための作品を収録した2枚分を付け加えて、新たなBOXセットとして販売することになりました。自身、優れたヴァイオリニストであったシュポアの協奏曲は、古典派的な明快な形式の中に、ロマン派の情緒を融合された上品で華麗な音楽です。常に新しい作風を追求していたシュポアらしく、どの曲も工夫が凝らされ、聞き手も全く飽きることがありません。ヴァイオリン・パートは一貫してドイツの名手ヘルシャーが受け持ち、フレーリヒ率いるベルリン放送交響楽団が見事なサポートを付けています。落穂拾い的な2枚のCDがまた素晴らしく、協奏曲とは違ったのびのび自由な作風が楽しめる佳品ばかりが収録されています。
