The thrilling, shocking developments remain, while the music has been further enhanced under the complete supervision of composer Yoko Shimomura. The game content has been improved for modern playability. Original director Takashi Tokita oversees production as producer for this title, ensuring it can be enjoyed by both those who played the original and newcomers alike.

The Primitive chapter: Living in an era without language.
The Wild West chapter: Facing off against outlaws as a lone bounty hunter.
The Kung Fu chapter: Training a disciple and passing down the art of martial arts.
The Twilight chapter: A ninja infiltrates a castle on a secret mission.
The Present Day chapter: Aiming to become the strongest while learning new techniques.
The Near Future chapter: Wielding psychic powers to defeat evil.
The Sci-Fi chapter: A tragedy unfolds aboard a spaceship.
The various stories, each with different protagonists and eras, can be played in any order the player chooses.
[Battle]
Battles are turn-based command battles on a grid, known as "Checker Battles." Move across the grid to approach or distance yourself, unleash techniques, or pass the turn to an ally— Enjoy strategic battles while sharing action time within the party. Each character's techniques have different effects and ranges, and powerful techniques take time to activate, making positioning and timing crucial.
