The initial motivation for creating Urushi Raden WAKASA was feedback from customers who visited our physical store.

"I want chopsticks with raden in Wakasa-nuri, but they are all traditional and old-fashioned designs... Many are too flashy for everyday use, and I would be happy if there were something more elegant with raden sprinkled subtly, that can be used casually."

Knowing that such needs are not uncommon, and while firmly inheriting the design of Wakasa-nuri with "urushi" and "raden," we commercialized this product to match modern dining tables. This is the Urushi Raden WAKASA.

The handle design depicts the beautiful Wakasa Bay shimmering under the sunset, expressed with raden that sparkles across the surface.

The central painted section is decorated with gold accents that match the overall tone.

Raden is abundantly sprinkled, and the depth and transparency created by layering urushi evoke the beautiful sunset of Wakasa, dyed in orange, with a shimmering effect.

Urushi Raden WAKASA is not only visually appealing but also highly functional. Although it is urushi chopsticks, it is dishwasher safe, which is a welcome feature.

The urushi used in this product is called MR urushi, which has been refined to have smaller molecules during the purification process compared to conventional urushi. It has excellent gloss and transparency, and the surface hardness is very strong and durable, making it very convenient as it can be used daily in a dishwasher.

The shape is processed into a hexagon for easy grip. It is also characterized by its stability, as it does not roll easily when placed on a table.

*Dry lacquer: The unevenness at the tip of the chopsticks is made by sprinkling dried urushi powder and layering urushi.

To prevent the chopstick tips, which contact dishes and ingredients, from wearing out and the urushi from peeling, dry lacquer is applied as a finish. The dry lacquer parts, accented in black and vermilion for each size, also serve as anti-slip features.
