Located in the Kawada district of Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, an area surrounded by mountains, is the birthplace of Echizen lacquerware, a tradition that has continued for approximately 1,500 years.The KyutarouBlue series is crafted by "Lacquerware Kyuutarou," a company rooted in this Echizen lacquerware tradition.

KyutarouBlue was born out of the creator’s particular attention to detail.When someone pointed out, "If lacquer or paint is applied all over, it’s hard for an amateur to tell whether the material is wood or plastic," it prompted us to think of a way to clearly convey the魅力 (charm) of both "wood" and "lacquerware" simultaneously.
At the same time, we had a desire to create blue-colored tableware.Why is blue considered taboo for tableware?We were confident that it would become absolutely wonderful tableware.
In the Echizen lacquerware region, there exists技術 (technology) developed from traditional techniques for commercial lacquerware.Using this技術 and paints, we achieved a carefully crafted blue color and a semi-transparent coating that highlights the wood grain.
The result is "Kyuutaoru Blue."
