【What is a One-Stroke Dragon?】
As the name suggests, a dragon drawn with a single brushstroke, without interruption, while wishing and praying, is believed to represent:
- Continuous development and wealth
- Unbroken connections for good relationships and growth
- Ongoing protection and safety
This tradition has been revered and treasured as a divine dragon for approximately 400 years since the Edo period (1603–1868). It is believed to bring strong blessings and benefits, passed down with faith and trust.

【Kyoto One-Stroke Dragon Artist / Keisuke Tejima】
Fascinated by dragons since childhood, he has continued to draw dragon images. Influenced by 14 years of practicing karate from age 6, through which he learned the spirit of Japanese martial arts, he encountered the traditional 『One-Stroke Dragon』 and was deeply impressed by its technique, history, and significance, feeling it was his destiny. He learned the technique through self-study. While preserving the tradition of the One-Stroke Dragon dating back to the Edo period, he pursues the art with the spirit of 【Shuhari】 (learning, detachment, mastery). He is one of only three known One-Stroke Dragon artists in Japan. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, through various coincidences and inevitable encounters, he was guided to establish his atelier in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, a city with a 1,000-year history where dragons are believed to dwell.
【Kyoto, the City of Dragon Deities】
Kyoto has been regarded for over 1,000 years as a place imbued with the power of dragon deities residing in dragon holes and dragon veins. Many shrines and temples associated with dragons exist, and pilgrimages to honor the dragon deities have been actively carried out from ancient times to the present.
【Dragon (Ryujin) Belief in Japan】
Japan has long been considered a mysterious land where dragons dwell, regarded as divine messengers or manifestations of the gods themselves. Many shrines, temples, myths, and legends worship and revere dragon deities, symbolizing prosperity and protection.
