**What is Ippitsuryu (One-Stroke Dragon)?**As the name suggests, the body of the dragon is drawn with a single continuous brushstroke without any breaks. **Kyoto Ippitsuryu Artist: Keisuke Teshima**Fascinated by dragons since childhood, he has continued to draw them ever since. Influenced by the spirit of the Japanese "Way" (Do) through 14 years of Karate practice starting at age six, he encountered the traditional "Ippitsuryu." Deeply moved by the history and reasons behind the technique, he believed it to be his calling and mastered the technique through self-study. While preserving the tradition of Ippitsuryu dating back to the Edo period, he pursues the dragon through the spirit of "Shuhari" (obey, detach, transcend).He is one of only three Ippitsuryu artists said to exist in Japan. Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, a series of coincidences and inevitable connections led him to establish his studio in Higashiyama, Kyoto—the 1,000-year-old capital where the Dragon God is said to dwell.
