"Hokuchu Ekki To" is a Kampo medicine described in the Chinese medical text "Nei Shang Bian Lun". "Nei Shang Bian Lun" is a medical text written by Li Dongyuan in 1247 AD (Southern Song Dynasty). It is said that during this era, the social environment was unstable, and illnesses caused by mental stress and irregular lifestyles were very common. Based on his research of many classical medical texts and his extensive practical experience, Li Dongyuan believed that the spleen and stomach (digestive organs) play a crucial role in the body. In other words, the "Nei Shang Xue Shuo" (theory of internal injury) posits that unhealthy eating habits, overwork, and stress impair the function of the spleen and stomach, leading to poor digestion and absorption of nutrients, and consequently causing illness. Therefore, believing that improving the decline of the spleen and stomach (digestive organs) was fundamental to treatment, Li Dongyuan created "Hokuchu Ekki To". In "Hokuchu Ekki To", "Hokuchu" means to support the weakened function of the stomach and intestines, and "Ekki" means to benefit vital energy. It is a Kampo medicine aimed at restoring the function of the digestive system and recovering from a decline in physical strength and weakness. Furthermore, as it is a representative Kampo medicine for tonics (to supplement vital energy deficiency), it has the alternate name "Iou To".

(Extracted from Ginseng, Atractylodes macrocephala, Astragalus each 2g; Jujube, Bupleurum, Citrus unshiu each 1g; Angelica sinensis 1.5g; Licorice 0.75g; Ginger 0.25g; Cimicifuga 0.5g.)
Contains lactose and hydroxypropyl cellulose as additives.
