About the Fabric:
The fabric is made from vibrant kimono and obi materials used on celebratory days in the Showa era. Some of these are rare textiles and weaves that are no longer in production. The patterns include auspicious floral motifs, birds, gold thread embroidery, and Nishijin weaving, collected from across Japan. Due to the high-quality raw materials, this product is only possible as a remade, used, and upcycled item.
About the Sewing:
Manufactured in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan’s largest bag production area. Crafted by skilled bag artisans at companies that sell materials for bags and have their own YKK zippers. Pattern placement, orientation, and the front/back of the obi cords are decided in Tokyo. The fabric is then cut using molds created at a dedicated factory, and sewn by experienced craftsmen.
Since kimono and obi fabrics vary in embroidery, weave, thickness, and texture, they require meticulous work and are considered difficult even for skilled artisans.
In Toyooka, the tradition of basketry using willow, originating from the "Yanagi" craft mentioned in the Kojiki, has been passed down for over a thousand years. Under strict quality control developed through this long-standing tradition, the products are carefully made.
Notes for Purchase:
Fabric: The kimono, obi, and obi cords used are previously worn or stored items. As a result, there may be creases, small stains, dirt, scratches, or deterioration. While efforts are made to exclude these, some may remain. Please understand that this product is a recycled, upcycled item from older or used materials.
Color:
While every effort is made to display accurate colors, slight differences may occur due to monitor settings on your computer or mobile device. Please understand that the actual product may vary slightly in hue.
Size:
Although cut uniformly with molds and sewn by skilled artisans, the thickness and embroidery of each kimono and obi vary, which can cause slight size discrepancies, especially with thicker or heavily embroidered items. Please understand this in advance.
Handling Instructions:
Since the kimono, obi, and cords are likely made of silk, but due to their used condition, this cannot be guaranteed (and the Consumer Affairs Agency states that there is no obligation to include such details on the product). Please wash with a silk-specific detergent or consult a professional kimono cleaner.
Be cautious of color bleeding or transfer caused by water, sweat, friction, or rain.
Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause discoloration or hardening; avoid direct sunlight.
Store in a well-ventilated, dark place, away from high humidity and other items.
Be careful to prevent snagging or friction from nails or protrusions.
The magnetic clasp may affect medical devices such as watches, IC cards, or pacemakers; please use with caution.
After Purchase:
Except in cases of product defects, returns and exchanges are generally not accepted.
Returns or exchanges due to defects are limited to items received within 7 days and unused.
