[About the Fabric]
We use vibrant kimono and obi that were used for special occasions during the Showa era. Some pieces utilize rare materials and weaves that are no longer in production.
The patterns include auspicious floral and bird motifs, gold thread, embroidery, and Nishijin-ori (Nishijin brocade), all gathered from rare textiles collected from across the country.
Due to the high quality of the raw materials, this product is made possible through remaking used items.
[About the Sewing]
The sewing is done in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan's largest bag production area.
It is produced by skilled bag artisans from a company that sells necessary bag materials and has its own YKK zipper factory.
The placement of patterns, orientation, and instructions for the obi-jime (sash cord) used as handles are determined in Tokyo. Then, a mold is created at a factory that produces molds for the sewing factory. The fabric is cut using this mold, and then sewn.
Kimono and obi have unique embroidery and weaves, and vary in thickness and texture, making them very labor-intensive and difficult to sew even for experienced artisans.
In Toyooka, the tradition of willow basketry, mentioned in the "Kojiki" (Records of Ancient Matters), has been passed down.
The products are manufactured under strict quality control, cultivated over a thousand years of tradition that began with willow luggage.
[Notes for Purchase]
About the Fabric: The kimono, obi, and obi-jime used are previously used or stocked items. Therefore, there may be fold creases, small stains, dirt, scratches, or deterioration. While we take care to remove these, some may occasionally remain. Please understand that we are recycling and upcycling items that have passed through time, are from older eras, and are not new.
About the Color: We take the utmost care to ensure accuracy in our listings, but the colors may differ slightly from the actual product due to variations in monitor settings on your computer or mobile phone. Please be aware of this in advance.
About the Size: Although the fabric is cut uniformly with molds and sewn by skilled artisans, kimono, obi, and obi-jime vary in thickness. Therefore, there may be slight variations in size, such as the product being slightly smaller if it uses a lot of embroidery or a thick obi. We appreciate your understanding.
About Handling: The kimono, obi, and obi-jime used are presumed to be silk, but due to their used nature, this is uncertain. (The Consumer Affairs Agency states that there is no obligation to include this information on the product.) Please wash them with silk detergent at your own risk, or consult a professional dry cleaner specializing in kimono.
Please be cautious of color fading or transfer due to rain, water, sweat, or friction.
Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, as it can cause discoloration or hardening.
Store in a cool, dark, well-ventilated place, away from direct contact with other items.
Be careful of snagging or friction from nails or sharp objects.
The magnetic clasp may adversely affect watches, IC cards, and medical devices such as pacemakers. Please be cautious.
After Purchase: We generally do not accept returns or exchanges unless the product is defective. In principle, returns or exchanges due to defects are accepted only within 7 days of product arrival and only if the product is unused.
