The gentle soft effect allows it to be used as a protective filter left on the lens at all times. It features a multi-coating to prevent flare and ghosting, and a water-repellent and oil-repellent coating to repel water droplets and dirt, enhancing its function as a lens protection filter. Kenko's representative soft filter, "Black Mist," is a filter that sandwiches extremely fine black diffusion material between optical glass. It suppresses contrast in highlights and shadows, and diffusely scatters light in night scenes and other bright scenes to produce a nuanced effect reminiscent of a movie scene. The charm of Black Mist is that it provides a cinematic texture right on the spot without retouching. The "Black Mist Protector" offers a soft effect equivalent to 1/4 of "Black Mist No.1" and 1/2 of "Black Mist No.05." By reducing the soft effect, it can be used constantly, and in scenes with backlighting or strong light sources, it subtly enhances the effect. It is also recommended for video shooting.
