地球上で最も古い宝石ジルコン。キュービックジルコニアとよく間違えられてしまいますが、ジルコンは天然石です。
ジルコンの特徴・・
構造上ダイヤモンドと同レベルのディスパーション（虹色の輝き）を持ち、ジルコンの輝きは他の宝石に引けを取りません。
ジルコンの内部を光が通る時に2つに分かれて、結果としてバックファセットが2重に見え、厚みを増したようになります。
こうして生じる美しいモザイク模様は、他の宝石ではなかなか見られない特徴です。
