Place the candle on a candlestick, and use matches or a lighter when lighting.
Japanese candles, after ignition, will leave a residual wick as they burn. Please remove the blackened residual wick with wick scissors or fire tongs. When trimming the wick, leave the original length before cutting. Cutting it too short may cause excess wax to drip. Also, be careful that the trimmed wick does not fall onto the wax. When the wax liquefies, there is a risk of ignition.
Please use a size of candle that matches the size of the candlestick or Buddhist altar. Do not use large candles on small Buddhist altars.
Do not leave the candle unattended once lit. Do not use near flammable materials or in unstable places.
Always fix the candle straight into a non-flammable candlestick that matches the hole and length of the candle, and use it so that it is not affected by the wind. Be sure to extinguish the flame before sleeping.
After washing the candlestick, be sure to wipe off moisture thoroughly with a dry cloth before use. When the candle flame and a small amount of water react, the wick may protrude outside the candlestick. Do not place the candle in the candlestick while it is hot, as it may melt and fall over. Use after the candlestick has cooled. During burning and immediately after extinguishing, the candle and candlestick will be hot, so do not touch with your hands.
Do not use water to extinguish the candle. Do not use near children or pets. In low temperatures or depending on the material and shape of the candlestick, residual wax may remain.
Avoid direct sunlight and store in a cool, dark place. Be careful to keep out of reach of children and pets.
