The "Shiawase no Mon'yō" (Patterns of Happiness) series is an original design created in collaboration with textile designers, focusing on the "meaning of wishing for happiness" inherent in traditional Japanese patterns. It is an exclusive design by Fuwa Market.
One of the series, the Ichimatsu pattern, features a regular checkered design that also carries the meaning of "prosperity of descendants" and "continuation of business." The motif, considered auspicious, has been modernized to suit contemporary lifestyles.

✔ Perfect for high-quality gifts: "Patterns of Happiness" conveying special sentiments
A book filled with Japanese beauty that makes writing enjoyable.
**Japanese Stab Binding**
This is a traditional Japanese bookbinding technique. The paper is sewn together with thread, integrating the cover and spine into one piece.
The carefully hand-stitched notebook offers a gentle opening experience and develops a rich, familiar feel with use. Because it is securely sewn with thread, pages are less likely to fall out, allowing for long-term use.
It pairs well with fountain pens and brush pens, providing an excellent writing experience. Ideal for diaries, travel journals, sketchbooks, poetry collections, idea notebooks, and turning everyday writing into a special moment.
**The Charm of Hand-Dyed Craftsmanship**
The hand-dyed Japanese paper used in this stab-bound notebook is crafted by Yuzen paper dyeing artisans at a specialized factory in Kyoto, each piece finished by hand.
The deep colors and unique textures achieved through traditional techniques are highly attractive.
Close-up images of the patterns reveal the delicate layering of colors unique to hand-dyeing. Subtle shades and bleeding enhance the handcrafted feel, creating a one-of-a-kind beauty.
Each piece is carefully dyed for each edition, producing depth and warmth that cannot be achieved with simple printing.
The hand-dyed Japanese paper is then finished by Kyoto’s box-making artisans, each one meticulously crafted by hand. Slight variations in expression give each notebook a unique, special feel.
Please experience the warmth and texture created by the artisans’ craftsmanship.
**The Wishes and Prayers Embedded in the Ichimatsu Pattern**
Elegant Ichimatsu, a symbol of traditional beauty.
Alternating squares of different colors are tightly packed, creating a sense of movement as if they are swaying.
The Ichimatsu pattern appears as if imbued with life.
It was famously worn by Kabuki actor Sano-gawa Ichimatsu in stylish white and navy costumes, making a striking and elegant appearance that especially women eagerly adopted.
Originally called "Ishidatami Mon" (stone-paved pattern), it was renamed Ichimatsu Mon due to its popularity.
Even today, it appears in the design of the protagonist’s green and black haori in the manga "Demon Slayer" (Kimetsu no Yaiba), and remains beloved across generations.
Available in two colors: a healing green tone and a warm red tone. Both subdued yet distinctive, these items brighten daily writing activities.
*Please note:* Since large sheets are cut to produce these items, pattern placement may vary. Thank you for your understanding.
