The "Shiawase no Mon'yō" (Patterns of Happiness) series is an original design created in collaboration with textile designers, focusing on the "meaning of wishing for happiness" embedded in traditional Japanese patterns. It is an exclusive design by Fuwa Market.

One of the series, the Ichimatsu pattern, features a regular checkered design that also carries the meaning of "prosperity of descendants" and "continuity of business." The motif, considered auspicious, has been modernized to suit contemporary lifestyles.

✔ Dedicated craftsmanship: Carefully finished one by one at a specialized factory in Kyoto
✔ Modern traditional patterns: Six types of patterns available in two colors, offering a variety of choices
✔ Durable and long-lasting: Strongly sewn with thread for excellent durability
✔ Perfect for high-quality gifts: "Patterns of Happiness" conveying special sentiments

A book filled with Japanese beauty that makes writing enjoyable

**Japanese Stab Binding (Fukuro Toji)**
This is a traditional Japanese bookbinding technique. It involves sewing the paper with thread to integrate the cover and spine into one piece.

The carefully hand-stitched notebook offers a gentle opening experience and develops a rich, familiar feel with use. Because it is securely sewn with thread, pages are less likely to fall out, allowing for long-term use.

It pairs well with fountain pens and brush pens, providing an excellent writing experience. Ideal for diaries, travel journals, sketchbooks, poetry collections, idea notebooks, and turning everyday writing into a special moment.

**Showcasing the Charm of Hand-Dyed Craftsmanship**

The hand-dyed Washi paper used in this Japanese stab binding notebook is crafted by Yuzen Washi dyeing artisans at a specialized factory in Kyoto, each piece finished by hand.

The deep colors and unique textures achieved through traditional techniques are highly attractive.

Close-up of the pattern reveals the delicate layering of colors characteristic of hand-dyeing. Subtle shades and bleeding enhance the artisanal feel, creating a one-of-a-kind beauty.

Each sheet is carefully dyed individually, producing depth and warmth that cannot be achieved with simple printing.

The finished hand-dyed Washi paper is then meticulously assembled by Kyoto’s box-making artisans, with each notebook slightly different in expression, adding a sense of exclusivity.

Please experience the warmth and texture created by the craftsmanship of these artisans.

**The Wishes and Prayers Embedded in the Ichimatsu Pattern**

Elegant Ichimatsu, a symbol of traditional beauty

Alternately filling squares of different colors creates a dynamic, flowing appearance.

The Ichimatsu pattern appears as if it is alive, seemingly imbued with vitality.

It is famously associated with Kabuki actor Ichimatsu Sano, who appeared in stylish white and navy costumes, captivating audiences, especially women, who eagerly adopted the look.

Originally called "Ishidatami Mon" (Stone Pavement Pattern), it was renamed Ichimatsu Mon due to its popularity.

Even today, it is featured in the design of the protagonist’s green and black haori in the manga "Demon Slayer" (Kimetsu no Yaiba), and remains beloved across generations and age groups.

Available in two colors: a calming green tone, which is considered healing, and a warm red tone, which adds personality. Both are subdued yet distinctive, making them perfect for enhancing daily writing.

*Please note:* Since large sheets are cut to create the pattern, there may be individual differences in pattern placement. Thank you for your understanding.

Fuwa Market’s "Patterns of Happiness" series features designs imbued with wishes from traditional Japanese patterns. These elegant items are also suitable as gifts for loved ones, embodying the spirit of Japanese aesthetics.
