The Yatagarasu is a three-legged crow that appears in Japanese mythology and is revered as a god of guidance.
It also has origins in Kure City; it is said that the mountain, Yasumi-yama, which overlooks the Keisenbori district, was named after the Yatagarasu rested there in ancient times, and has been called Yasumi-yama ever since.
The Yatagarasu Shrine is located on the mountainside, and the Yatagarasu is depicted not only in the logo of the 3rd Minesweeper Squadron but also in the logo of the 4th Escort Flotilla Headquarters.

The Minesweeper Tender BINGO is the second ship of the Uraga-class minesweeper tender, commissioned in 1998, with Kure Base as its homeport.
The role of a minesweeper tender is to ensure the safety of waters during minesweeping operations to remove mines from World War II, enabling safe navigation in Japanese waters. It serves as a mother ship for minesweeping aircraft and minesweeper boats, providing fuel and supplies, and also functions as a command center with the squadron headquarters on board.
Furthermore, its roles extend to various activities, such as transporting supplies during disasters.
In 2025, along with the Minesweeper Destroyer ETAJIMA, it participated in the Indo-Pacific and Middle East Deployment 2025 (IMED25). From February 9th to February 21st of the same year, it participated in the International Maritime Exercise / CUTLASS EXPRESS 2025 (IMX/CE25), an international maritime exercise hosted by the United States, conducted in the Kingdom of Bahrain and its surrounding waters.
