(C)RS About the Artist Karl-Andreas Cory (Piano) Born in 1965 into a musical family in Switzerland, his father was a church organist. He studied under Hans Schicker at the Zurich Academy of Music, studied under Karl Engel in Bern, and then studied under Mieczyslaw Horszowski in Lucerne. In 1990, he won first prize in the competition for young musicians sponsored by Swiss Bank Corporation, and won numerous other competitions, including the Jecklin Competition. He performs actively in both solo and ensemble settings, giving concerts and master classes worldwide, including in Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and the United States, and is invited to many international music festivals such as Lucerne, Zurich, Davos, and Passau. He has also performed with many orchestras, including the Tonhalle Orchestra and the Bern Symphony Orchestra. His solo albums, focusing on Bach and Chopin, have been released by Meister Music, and in Europe, over 90 CDs have been released on labels such as Pan Classics, Koch Schwann, Novalis, and Tudor, including concertos and sonatas by Scriabin, and chamber music by Brahms and Schumann. He has been a professor at the Zurich Conservatory since 1991.
