This is a pure love fantasy film based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Takuji Ichikawa. The story depicts a wife who has passed away suddenly appearing before her husband and son one year after her death, losing her memories of the past but choosing to live again as a family with them. However, there is a limit to this happiness.
This poignant and moving story is structured so that the son, Yuuji, who was five years old in the film, reflects on the events twelve years later, at age 17 (the age when his parents met). The film serves as both a sequel and a prologue to the story.
