[Hongo 3-chome Intersection (Kaneyasu Miokuri Slope)]There is a famous saying, "Up to Kaneyasu is within Edo." This is a key point in Hongo where Kasuga Dori and Hongo Dori intersect. In the Edo period, there were frequent large fires, and the area up to "Kaneyasu" became an Edo fire prevention district, leaving behind the aforementioned saying. The slight slope leading towards the University of Tokyo from the intersection is said to have been where people leaving Edo (on the Nakasendo road) were seen off.
