Product details: A tsumugi (silk) with a geometric pattern by Maruyama Tadashi, Maru Factory.
The condition is very good with no noticeable stains or dirt.
【Maruyama Tadashi】
Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1951. Studied oil painting at Osaka University of Arts.
After working as a graphic designer, he began his career as a dyeing and weaving artist in 1985.
He has held exhibitions mainly in Tokyo and various other locations.
In 2000, he opened a shop called "Maru Factory" in Kita-Aoyama.
In the same year's autumn, his solo exhibition in Milan attracted attention both domestically and internationally.
His works mainly feature chic colors such as black, gray, and burnt brown.
Within the traditional Japanese module called shaku width, he pursues his own colors and textures of materials.
The materials Maruyama chooses are hand-spun raw tsumugi yarn from Akagi, woven in Ojiya.
The kimono uses patterns created by Ise pattern makers.
Finished with the craftsmanship of Edo komon artisans.
The obi shows painterly and sculptural attempts, with fabrics layered with gold leaf, pigments, and ash.
He explores material creation through techniques such as cutting, pounding, and rubbing, with endless curiosity.
Additionally, fabrics with holes made by his own hand are embroidered with a presence that enhances their originality.
These fabrics, supported by traditional techniques and refined by his hand,
and worn on the body through his "wrapping" method,
change their expression and captivate viewers.
This is a very rare, exquisite piece.
We are offering it at a low price, so please take this opportunity.
We strive to photograph in colors as close to the actual item as possible, but there may be slight differences.
If the sewn-in length is asymmetrical, the shorter part is noted. Please note that we cannot accept returns or discounts for asymmetry, so purchase with understanding.
