状態は特に目立ったシミ汚れなどもなく大変良い状態です。
人間国宝 甲田綏郎氏は、昭和4年(1929)1月4日、
宮城県仙台市に生まれ、早くから父・甲田榮佑に師事し、
伝統的な仙台平の製作技法である
精好仙台平(せいごうせんだいひら)を学ばれます。
以来、父・甲田榮佑氏の厳しい指導のもとで技術の練磨向上に励み、
昭和45年(1970)父の死去にともない、
家業の合資会社本場仙台平工場(現合資会社仙台平)を継承されます。
ひとすじに仙台平の製作を続け今日に至る間、
昭和51年(1976)に宮城県指定無形文化財
「精好仙台平」技術保持者の認定を受けます。
伝統技術を深く研究してその長所を守り、
特色のある意匠の、優れた仙台平を製織することに専念し続けています。
平成14年(2002)7月8日、甲田榮佑氏、
綏郎氏の親子2代に渡り重要無形文化財
「精好仙台平」技術保持者として認定され、現在に至ります。
