Authentic Chikuzen Hakata Ori is a silk textile produced in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
It features geometric patterns based on the trident and flower dish, which are Buddhist ritual implements.
Since Chikuzen domain lord Nagamasa Kuroda made it a gift to the shogunate during the Edo period,
it is also called Hakata gift or gift Hakata.
The warp threads wrap around the weft threads, with only the warp threads visible on the surface,
creating a weaving pattern called warp-faced weaving where horizontal ridges stand out.
Using 30 to 60 thin warp threads, it has firmness and stiffness, a hard texture, and a glossy appearance.
It is said to be a belt that is properly tightened, difficult to loosen, and easy to tie.
