The genuine Chikuzen Hakata Ori is a textile produced in Fukuoka Prefecture, Fukuoka City Hakata Ward, and its surrounding areas.
It features geometric patterns based on the trident and flower dish, which are Buddhist ritual implements.
Since Kuroda Nagamasa, the lord of the Chikuzen domain during the Edo period, presented it to the shogunate, it is also called Hakata Presentation or Presentation Hakata.
It is woven with a technique called 'okie-ori,' which makes the horizontal ridges stand out.
Using 30 to 60 fine weft threads, it has firmness and resilience, and the fabric is stiff with a glossy appearance.
It is said to be a well-tightened, hard-to-lose, easy-to-tie obi.
Since it is a very high-quality piece, we recommend taking good care of it and wearing it.
