The authentic Chikuzen Hakata weaving is a silk fabric produced in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
It features a geometric pattern based on the trident and flower plate, which are Buddhist ritual implements.
Since Chikuzen domain lord Nagamasa Kuroda made it a tribute to the shogunate during the Edo period,
it is also called Hakata Kenjo or Kenjo Hakata.
The warp threads wrap around the weft threads, leaving only the warp visible on the surface,
creating a weave called 'okane-une' where horizontal ridges stand out.
Using 30 to 60 fine warp threads, it has firmness and stiffness, a firm texture, and a glossy appearance.
It is said to be a belt that is properly tightened, difficult to loosen, and easy to tie.
