Born as the eldest son of the first Saito Saisaburo.
Influenced by his father, who was active as a dyeing artist, he also served at "Chinsui".
After completing his training period, he joined Sansai Dyeing Crafts.
As the second generation, he visited clients and further honed his skills.
He studied under the Japanese painter Kanō Sannraku Teru, who was an acquaintance of his father, and
received advice on brushwork and plant sketching from life drawing.
A "Parent-Child Creative Exhibition" was featured in kimono magazines, and
Sansai's kimono was considered innovative, leading to a rush of orders from actresses and models.
He dedicated himself to "creating kimonos that delight the wearer."
In Showa 41 (1966), he became president of the company, changing the company name to Sansai Co., Ltd.
His solo exhibitions, where he announced new works as a dyeing artist, number 35, and
he also successfully organized kimono shows at large venues.
His unconventional color combinations, which broke the norms of traditional Japanese clothing, were criticized by the industry as "sixty (Sai) base colors with twenty (Sai) patterns," but
his unique color palette was accepted by the market, establishing a style called "Sansai Style."
Many of his famous sayings express his own fashion philosophy, such as "Too elegant is vulgar, too stylish is crude," "Kimono is alive," and "Hundred-line refinement."
