Yamada Ori is a textile company founded in Taisho 2 (1913) in Shiozawa, Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture.
It applies techniques from the important intangible cultural property 'Echigo Jofu', which has a 1700-year tradition.
Introducing dyeing techniques into silk textiles (traditional crafts) that utilize these techniques,
and producing more than half of the local production, continuing to preserve the tradition.
Known as 'Shiozawa' when it comes to tanmono (single-layer kimono),
it is a kimono that captivates kimono enthusiasts during early summer and early autumn for a few months.
Now, it is used throughout all seasons, and
it is an ideal tsumugi for both hitoe (single-layer) and awase (lined) kimono.
'Hon Shiozawa' differs from the general 'Shiozawa Tsumugi',
using spun silk threads for both warp and weft, which are made from raw silk.
The warp threads are twisted 350 times per meter,
and the weft threads are twisted an additional 1800 times.
Because of these strongly twisted threads, a textured surface like chirimen (crepe) is created.
The crisp, 'shari' (crackle) sensation on the skin is
unique to Hon Shiozawa.
It is a very high-quality piece.
We are offering it at a low price, so please take this opportunity.
※We strive to photograph in colors as close to the actual product as possible, but there may be slight differences.
※If the sewn-in length is asymmetrical, the shorter side is listed.
