The Next Generation Bonsai Pot, Infused with the Techniques of Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki
Heian Senzan

"Touan," a kiln founded in 1922, is located at the foot of Sennyu-ji Temple in Higashiyama, Kyoto, a region where master artisans have gathered for centuries, nurturing the culture of Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki. "Heian Senzan" is an original bonsai pot born from the fusion of the techniques of Touan's fourth-generation master craftsman and KINBON's specialized perspective, which has been producing bonsai pots for many years.

It is extremely rare for a Kiyomizu-yaki kiln, a traditional Kyoto craft, to seriously engage in the production of bonsai pots. This series, born from such an endeavor, combines beauty and practicality not found in conventional bonsai pots.

■ High-Temperature Firing Achieves Both Beauty and Strength

Fired at approximately 1,200 degrees Celsius, distinguishing it from ordinary ceramic pots.
This achieves high strength and durability.

While vibrant colors are generally difficult to achieve with high-temperature firing, Touan's unique glazes, developed through years of research, retain the elegant colors characteristic of Kyo-yaki while also providing scratch resistance.

■ Choose from 3 Types of Glazes in a Total of 5 Colors (Each with a Unique, One-of-a-Kind Appearance)

・Hanakessho (Flower Crystal)
An original glaze by Touan's fourth-generation master, Yoshiaki Tsuchibuchi.
Characterized by a crystal pattern that blooms roundly like flower petals, formed under extremely delicate firing conditions with a temperature difference of only ±3°C.
No two patterns are alike, offering a special, one-of-a-kind appearance even in mass-produced items.

・Hoshikessho (Star Crystal)
An original glaze by Touan's fourth-generation master, Yoshiaki Tsuchibuchi.
A fantastical glaze where tungsten-derived crystals spread like stars, emitting an iridescent sheen.
Its appearance changes with light and angle, creating a deep, scenic view within the pot.
It offers the aesthetic of expensive Tenmoku glazes at a realistic price point.

・Kessho-yu (Crystal Glaze)
A natural landscape woven by crystals using traditional Kyo-yaki techniques.
It evokes a sense of depth while maintaining a calm presence, enhancing the charm of the tree.

■ Design: A Square Pot Combining Refinement and Softness to Enhance the Tree and Complete the Scene

A square pot featuring an elegantly flared rim and a softly bulging body. The lines gently widening towards the four corners enhance the tree.
Its refined form, which does not overpower, brings out the individuality of the tree.

■ Practicality Recognized by Professionals

・Proven use in top-tier exhibitions such as the Miyabi-fu Exhibition.
・A dignified quality suitable for renowned small bonsai trees.
・Versatile for use with finished trees, as well as material and cultivated trees.

This pot is actually used by bonsai professionals and can be chosen with confidence by beginners and veterans alike.

■ Value Beyond Its Price

Despite its advanced techniques and expressive power, it is available for under 10,000 yen.
This is extremely rare for a Kyo-yaki or Kiyomizu-yaki piece, making its high cost performance a significant attraction.
