Bright F2.8 aperture, high-performance ★ (Star) lensDeveloped as part of the ★ (Star) series, this lens corrects aberrations to the extreme aiming for ideal image quality, and pursues sharp and clear high-resolution performance from the center to the periphery. When mounted on our K series digital single-lens reflex camera, it provides a zoom range equivalent to approximately 107 to 307mm in 35mm format, with about 2.9 times telephoto zoom. The maximum aperture remains F2.8 throughout the zoom range, making it suitable for portrait photography that takes advantage of the background bokeh, and sports photography that captures fast-moving subjects with high shutter speeds. Furthermore, because the design covers an image circle that can accommodate 35mm film SLR cameras, when attached to our current digital SLR cameras, it offers high-resolution, sharp images up to the corners of the frame, and is also capable of supporting future larger image sensors.
2. Utilizes the latest optical technologyEmploys the unique newly developed nano-technology “Aero Bright Coating II,” which surpasses the conventional “Aero Bright Coating” (Aero Bright Coating) to achieve excellent anti-reflective properties through a low-refractive index film formation process. Additionally, by combining with the high-performance multi-coating “HD Coating” (abbreviation for High Definition), which reduces the average reflectance in the visible light range to about 50% or less compared to conventional coatings, it effectively suppresses ghosting and flare under challenging lighting conditions such as backlighting. Moreover, by adopting four abnormal low dispersion (ED) glass elements, two special low dispersion (ED) glass elements, and two super ED glass elements with optical properties close to fluorite, it corrects chromatic aberration well across the zoom range, providing clear, high-contrast, and excellent rendering performance from the center to the periphery.Note 1: The silica aerogel, which contains a homogeneous air gap, provides excellent anti-reflective effects over a wide wavelength range, resulting in high-quality, clear images. 3. Dustproof and waterproof structureDesigned as an “AW (All Weather)” type with 13 sealing points overall, preventing water droplets and dust from entering the lens. When combined with our digital SLR bodies equipped with dustproof and waterproof structures, it enhances durability and reliability in rainy, foggy, or water-splash-prone environments.

Newly equipped quick shift focus system switchTo improve convenience of the “Quick-shift Focus System (QFS),” which allows switching between autofocus and manual focus without operation, three switches QFS/A, QFS/M, and MF have been added. In QFS/A mode, which prioritizes autofocus, manual focus can be performed after autofocus is completed. In QFS/M mode, manual focus can be immediately performed even during autofocus operation. In MF mode, quick switching to manual focus on the lens side is possible. These features enable smoother and more accurate focusing depending on the subject.
