About the artist Shiho Yamaki (composer and bass clarinet) Born in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. Graduated from Sendai Mukoyama High School. Entered Sōai University Faculty of Music, Department of Music, as an inaugural student majoring in bass clarinet. During her studies, she actively performed, including the premiere of Tetsu Omae's commissioned work "Concord~for two bass clarinets~". In early summer 2009, she released her first solo album "Bassclarinet Recital" from Kojima Recordings and held a release recital. She performed at the university graduation concert (at Izumi Hall) and multiple new artist concerts in the Kanto and Kansai regions. She studied bass clarinet with Kenji Soejima, Kazuhiro Fujii, and Satoshi Fukui, and clarinet with Kazuhiro Fujii, Satoshi Fukui, and Nobuyuki Kanai. From 2013, she studied jazz under Takaki Suzuki. She also took master classes with Koichi Hamanaka, Gyunsu Yan, and Sauro Bertie. In March 2014, she participated as the representative of the Milfy Clarinet Ensemble, which won second place at the Clarinet Association Ensemble Competition (at Palthenon Tama). In December 2014, she released her second album "My Sweet Hometown" and held release concerts in Tokyo, Osaka, and Sendai. In July 2017, she released her first album under the name Milfy Clarinet Ensemble. Her goal is to establish a world of solo bass clarinet that is not confined to genres, collaborating with various genre artists. Hayashi Masaki Piano Born in Tokyo in 1978. In December 1997, during university, he participated in the South American tour of Ito Takio & Takio Band, starting his career as a musician. Currently, he performs mainly his own compositions in solo performances and "Playing the space," an ensemble concept with live sound, as well as projects like "Nobumasa Kazu Tanaka" with Nobumasa Tanaka. He is also a member of numerous units such as "Nari Kono and Pepe Trimento Ascaral," "Salle Gaveau," and "Blue Note Tokyo All Star Jazz Orchestra." As a performer, he has collaborated with artists including Sadao Watanabe, Lisa Ono, Ringo Shiina, Kiyoshi Hasegawa, among others. His style, which incorporates diverse musical elements into static songwriting with a unique wit and delicate performance, has received high acclaim both domestically and internationally. His latest work, "Green Chorus / Playing the space," was released in August 2018. Yorozu Yasutaka Bass Born February 1, 1979, in Kyoto. Graduated from Osaka College of Music Junior College's Jazz Department. Studied jazz under Tomoyuki Kimura and classical music under Ken Sakakura. Influenced by his blues musician father, he played guitar from childhood and performed in bands playing blues, rock, funk, etc. Later, he became interested in jazz and switched to acoustic bass. He began performing in the jazz scene while attending Osaka College of Music, collaborating with musicians nationwide. Currently active in various creative scenes beyond jazz. Noritake Ryo Drums Born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, in 1984. Influenced by rock, heavy metal, hard rock, and punk, but gradually inclined toward jazz and improvisational music. After graduating from Koyo Music Academy Nagoya School, he studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. During his studies, he was greatly influenced not only musically but also in other aspects by notable educators and performers from the New England area such as Ian Froman, Hal Crook, and Bob Gullotti. After graduation, he further advanced his studies at William Paterson University in New Jersey, earning a master's degree in music, studying under Mulgrew Miller and Rich Perry. His deeply insightful and well-rounded drumming, backed by a broad education, is highly regarded across various fields, and he is active in many units.
