This is a silk scarf featuring hydrangea flowers expressed through jacquard weaving.
During the rainy season, hydrangea flowers spread all around, and this design captures that scene using jacquard weaving. The "decorative flowers," which resemble petals, are depicted in a square, humorous shape arranged in a continuous pattern to create a grid-like appearance. By weaving the threads in three dimensions and then cutting them, a technique called cut jacquard is used to produce a facial expression similar to embroidery, illustrating the charming flowers blooming at the center. The fabric has a textured, crepe-like feel, with overlapping colors unique to pre-dyed yarns, and offers two different expressions on the front and back, making it a beautiful textile that also complements traditional Japanese attire.
