ハセガワ 「1/48 日本海軍 中島 C6N1 艦上偵察機 彩雲」 プラモデルです。
中島C6N1彩雲は、日本海軍の高速偵察機です。
海軍は、昭和15年に実用機試製計画を立案し、各メーカーに内示していました。
中島飛行隊にも何点かの内示があった中に艦上高速偵察機がありました。
N-50と呼ばれたこの計画は要求性能が非常に過酷なものでした。
最高速度は350kt(650km/h)、航続距離は最大で2,500海里(4,630km)というもので
大阪からバンコク間の距離ということで、必要なエンジンは2,000馬力級が必要と考えられました。
このため中島は、1,000馬力級のエンジンを胴体内で2基串刺しにしてシャフト、ギアを介して両翼のプロペラを駆動する双発機案を考えました。
しかしちょうどこの頃「誉」と呼ばれた大馬力、省直径のエンジンの試作が順調に進んでいましたので、海軍からはN-50計画に「誉」を使えないかという指示がきました。
「誉」は当時銀河による実用試験が進んでいたエンジンで直径は1,180mm、離昇出力1,830馬力という高性能エンジンでした。
