Arisa Iwami, 33 years old, lives with her two-year-old daughter in a tower mansion that stands tall in Tokyo's bay area. It's a tower mansion she's admired since before she was married.
She joins a group of stylish moms. The leader of the group is Ibu Mama, who is both beautiful and talented, a former cabin attendant, and whose husband works for a top publishing company.
Also in the group are Makoto Mama and Megu Mama, whose husbands also work for top companies. All three of them own their units in the building. Arisa, however, rents hers. And then there's Mi-u Mama, who lives in an ordinary apartment building near the station.
Although her fashion sense is unrefined, Ibu Mama seems to like her because of her good looks and figure.
After one of their gatherings, Mi-u Mama invites Arisa out for drinks. Arisa is concerned about the other moms, but Mi-u Mama tells her that they have their own circle and that they (Arisa and Mi-u Mama) are just "park moms."
Arisa tells everyone that her husband is on an overseas assignment, but she has several things she's hiding.

Won the Edogawa Rampo Prize for "The Face of Rain Falling on Me" in 1993, the Mystery Writers of Japan Award for "OUT" in 1998, and her translated work of "OUT" was the first Japanese work to be nominated for the Edgar Award in 2004. Won the Naoki Prize for "Soft Cheeks" in 1999, the Izumi Kyoka Prize for Literature for "Grotesque" in 2003, the Shibata Renzaburo Prize for "Cruel Story" in 2004, the Fujin Koron Literary Prize for "Tamamoe!" in 2005, the Tanizaki Junichiro Prize for "Tokyo Island" in 2008, the Murasaki Shikibu Prize for "Megami Ki" in 2009, the Shima Kiyoshi Love Literature Prize for "Nanika Aru" in 2010, and the Yomiuri Prize for Literature for the same work in 2011 (This data was published at the time of this book's release).
