This is a hanging scroll of the "Thirteen Buddhas" to be enshrined near the Buddhist altar during Obon, Higan, and memorial services.
It depicts the main thirteen Buddhas responsible for the main memorial services from the first seven days after death to the 33rd anniversary.

When displayed near the Buddhist altar or the Bon shelf, it creates a solemn atmosphere and enhances the Obon feeling.
It can be displayed for all Buddhist ceremonies, and also for daily use to pray for the safety of your family and the prosperity of your household.

This was designed by Mr. Shuichi Horibe, with delicate hand-painted techniques. The scroll tip has a metal fitting, which is a characteristic of authentic specifications. Additionally, a paulownia wood box for storing the hanging scroll is included, making storage convenient.
*Jodo Shinshu and Nichiren sects do not display this. For Shingon sect followers, it is recommended to choose the Shingon Thirteen Buddhas.

【Meaning of the Thirteen Buddhas】
(1) Shakyamuni Buddha: Teaches the impermanence and alleviates anxiety.
(2) Monju Bodhisattva: Grants wisdom to utilize the teachings of Shakyamuni.
(3) Fudo Myo-o: Cuts off attachments with the sword in the right hand and guides with the silk cord in the left hand.
(4) Seishi Bodhisattva: Guides the deceased as a companion to Amitabha.
(5) Kannon Bodhisattva: Rescues the deceased onto a lotus platform as a companion to Amitabha.
(6) Samantabhadra Bodhisattva: Teaches practices that utilize Monju's wisdom.
(7) Bhaisajyaguru (Medicine Buddha): Grants a new body after the mourning period.
(8) Maitreya Bodhisattva: As the second Shakyamuni, delivers teachings.
(9) Jizo Bodhisattva: Rescues the deceased during Yama's judgment.
(10) Kokuzo Bodhisattva: Provides peace and helps become a "Samantabhadra" (a completed person).
(11) Amitabha Buddha: As the lord of the Pure Land, teaches and guides the deceased to the correct teachings.
(12) Dainichi Nyorai: As the fundamental master of the universe, watches over all beings.
(13) Ashuku Nyorai: Grants firm resolve toward new life.

【Handling Precautions】
・Please use the included paulownia box for storage.
・When storing, gently dust with a soft feather duster and avoid rolling it too tightly.
・To prevent mold and insect damage, take it out of the box and dry in the shade during clear spring and autumn days about twice a year.
・Avoid hanging it for long periods, as it may impair the scroll's natural flexibility. Also, avoid direct airflow from air conditioning, high humidity indoors, and direct sunlight.
