This is a床掛軸 (hanging scroll) for the Thirteen Buddha statues for Shingon Buddhism, used near the butsudan (Buddhist altar) during Obon, Higan, and memorial services.
It features the main thirteen Buddhas who oversee the main memorial services from the first seven days after death to the 33rd anniversary, and it is characterized by the depiction of Kobo Daishi, the founder of Shingon Buddhism, together with the Buddhas.

When displayed near the butsudan or the Bon shelf, it creates a solemn atmosphere and enhances the Obon ambiance.
It can be used for all Buddhist ceremonies, and also for daily use to pray for the safety of your family and the prosperity of your household.

This piece was created by Kazuto Okuda, who drew the original design with delicate hand-painted techniques. It features metal fittings on the end of the scroll, making it a authentic and high-quality item. Additionally, a paulownia wood box is included for storage, making it convenient for preservation.

【Meaning of the Thirteen Buddhas】
(1) Kobo Daishi: Founder of Shingon Buddhism.
(2) Jizo Bosatsu: Rescues the deceased at the time of Yama's judgment.
(3) Fudo Myo-o: Cuts off attachments with the sword in his right hand and guides with the silk cord in his left hand.
(4) Dainichi Nyorai: As the fundamental teacher of the universe, watches over all sentient beings.
(5) Kannon Bosatsu: As a attendant to Amitabha, lifts the deceased onto a lotus platform.
(6) Fugen Bosatsu: Teaches the practice of utilizing Manjushri's wisdom.
(7) Shaka Nyorai: Teaches the principle of impermanence and alleviates anxiety.
(8) Seishi Bosatsu: As a attendant to Amitabha, guides the deceased.
(9) Manjushri Bosatsu: Grants wisdom to realize the teachings of Shakyamuni.
(10) Amida Nyorai: As the master of the Pure Land, guides the deceased and teaches the correct path.
(11) Miroku Bosatsu: As the second Shakyamuni, preaches the Dharma.
(12) Ashuku Nyorai: Grants firm resolve toward new life.
(13) Kokuzo Bosatsu: Provides peace and helps become a 'Fugen' (a perfected person).
(14) Yakushi Nyorai: Grants a new body after the end of mourning period.

Member of Sumie Sai Association, also known as Hisashi.
Born in 1977, from Gifu Prefecture.
Specializes in flower and bird motifs.
Selected for the Spring Creation Exhibition.

- Please use the included paulownia box for storage.
- When storing, gently dust with a soft feather duster and avoid rolling too tightly.
- To prevent mold and insect damage, take the scroll out of the box and dry in the shade twice a year during spring and autumn sunny days.
- Avoid prolonged hanging to prevent loss of the scroll's natural flexibility. Also, avoid direct airflow from air conditioning, high humidity indoor environments, and direct sunlight.
