A freeform design not bound by traditional Japanese or Western styles
Qualeruche features a cute, rounded design that is not bound by traditional Japanese or Western styles, making it suitable for any room.
While it has a presence as an Obon decoration, it was designed with the idea of being used every year, aiming for a timeless design that won't become boring.
Comes with two types of fire bags that can be used again next year
Typically, white lanterns are used only during the New Obon and disposed of during the Sending Fire (※), but Qualeruche includes a Nadeshiko-patterned fire bag that can be used for Obon festivals after the New Obon.
It is an economical lantern that allows you to prepare only one stand, as you can change the fire bag for each Obon.
Since only one stand is included, you can continue using it by changing the fire bags.
The Nadeshiko pattern is designed to warmly welcome the important spirits of the deceased.
※White lanterns are used as markers during the New Obon and are not used in subsequent years.
Originally, lanterns were burned along with the fire bag during the Sending Fire, but nowadays it is often difficult, so some people cut the fire bag slightly to burn it together or dispose of it according to local regulations, avoiding the use of fire.

Are you ready for Obon?
Obon is a traditional event to welcome the spirits of ancestors and close family members who have passed away. It begins with the "Welcoming Fire" to receive the spirits and ends with the "Sending Fire" to send them off.
Within households, lanterns are arranged as Welcoming and Sending fires to honor the spirits of ancestors and the deceased. Since it is a once-a-year event, do your best to host them warmly within your means.
Traditionally,White lanterns for New Obonwere prepared by the family of the deceased, whilepatterned Bon lanterns (used annually)were generally prepared by relatives or acquaintances. However, due to recent changes in living environments, the placement and space for decorations have shifted from Buddhist altar rooms to living rooms, influencing the way they are arranged. The family of the deceased typicallyprepares all lanterns and Bon-related items, while relatives and acquaintances tend to prepare offerings (cash, incense, etc.).
The timing for decorating also varies by household. Usually, decorations are started from the 13th (the first day of Obon) through the 16th (the last day), but to avoid rushing, many begin gradually in the Obon month (July or August).
Hasegawa responds to various requests regarding Obon offerings and memorial services.
