プレイヤーは古代ローマ帝国の商業都市パルミラに住む商人となり、交易品を“安く買って高く売る”ことで得点（所持金）を稼ぎます。
目を引くのは3色の立体的な壺コマ。
ゲームボードの交易路に整然と並ぶこれらのコマは、商品としての価値があるだけでなく、その価格をも表しています（中央の都市パルミラに近いほど安く、遠いほど高い！）。
さらに手番には必ずカードを1枚使用しなければならず、それによってラウンド終了時の価格が上下したりボーナスがもらえたり。
他プレイヤーの商品をよく観察し、しっかり計画を立てましょう。
のちにリメイクされたアメリカ版（タイトル『Buy Low Sell High』）のカード構成で遊べるヴァリアントルールも封入。
