Greenpan is a Belgian brand that developed the world's first non-stick cookware that does not use fluororesin.

Greenpan was developed by Jan Helskens and Wim De Veirman, both from Belgium.

Research began even before advanced countries like the U.S. publicly announced that overheating traditional fluororescent resin coatings releases toxic substances, and long before the industry was aware.

They started searching for a new coating that would be safe for the human body and the environment as a replacement for fluororesin, working together with researchers.

They discovered that ceramic coatings used as smoke-proof materials are resistant to high heat and do not emit harmful substances, and experimented repeatedly to see if they could be processed into kitchenware.

It took additional time to verify and guarantee the quality, safety for humans and the environment, establish proper processing facilities, and implement the technology.

In 2007, they developed "Thermolon®," a ceramic non-stick coating made from the same raw materials as sand, which contains no harmful PFAS.

This was a revolutionary announcement that fundamentally overturned the industry’s longstanding bias toward fluororesin since 1958.

This marked the birth of Greenpan.
