Greenpan is a Belgian brand that was the first in the world to develop non-stick cookware that does not use fluororesin.

Greenpan was developed by Jan Helskens and Wim De Veirman, both from Belgium.

Research began even before advanced countries like the U.S. publicly announced that overheating traditional fluororescent resin coatings releases toxic substances, and long before the industry was aware.

They started searching for a new coating that is safe for the human body and the environment as a replacement for fluororesin, working together with researchers.

They discovered that ceramic coatings used as smoke-proof materials are resistant to high heat and do not emit harmful substances, and repeatedly experimented to see if these could be processed into kitchenware.

It took additional time to verify and guarantee the quality, safety for humans and the environment, to establish appropriate processing facilities, and to implement these in actual products.

In 2007, they developed "Thermolon®," a ceramic non-stick coating made from the same raw materials as sand, which contains no harmful PFAS.

This was a revolutionary announcement that fundamentally overturned the industry’s long-standing bias towards fluororesin since 1958.

This marked the birth of Greenpan.
