The "Shiawase no Mon'yō" (Patterns of Happiness) series is an original design created in collaboration with textile designers, focusing on the "meaning of wishing for happiness" inherent in traditional Japanese patterns. It is an exclusive design by Fuwa Market.
One of the series, the Ichimatsu pattern, features a regular checkered design that also carries the meaning of "prosperity of descendants" and "continuity of business." The motif, considered auspicious, has been modernized to suit contemporary lifestyles.

Enhance your enjoyment of visiting shrines and temples
The size of the Goshuincho (stamp book) is a large format of 18cm (height) × 12cm (width) (B6 size). Its convenient size allows for neat placement of stamped seals (Goshuin).
The book has 48 pages in total (24 sheets, double-sided), with a fold-out accordion-style design. When opened, it allows you to view multiple Goshuin at once, as if unfolding a long sheet of paper.
Besides being used as a Goshuin book, it can also serve as a mini notebook, scrapbook, travel journal, recipe book, or portfolio—its versatility is another attractive feature.
Every time you hold it, your mind becomes more centered, making your visits to shrines and temples even more enriching.
The Charm of Hand-Dyed Craftsmanship
The washi paper used in this Goshuincho is hand-dyed by Yuzen paper dyeing artisans at a specialized factory in Kyoto. The deep colors and unique textures achieved through traditional techniques are truly captivating.
Close-up images of the patterns reveal the delicate layering of colors characteristic of hand-dyeing. Subtle gradations and bleeding enhance the handcrafted feel, creating a one-of-a-kind beauty.
Each sheet is carefully dyed through a meticulous process, resulting in depth and warmth that cannot be achieved with simple printing.
The hand-dyed washi paper is then finished into a book by Kyoto’s box-making artisans, each one crafted by hand. Slight variations in each piece add a sense of exclusivity and specialness.
Please experience the texture and warmth created by the artisans’ craftsmanship.
The Wishes and Prayers Embedded in the Ichimatsu Pattern
Elegant Ichimatsu, the beauty of tradition
Alternately filling a pattern of squares in different colors creates a dynamic, lively appearance, almost as if it’s moving.
The Ichimatsu pattern appears to be imbued with life.
When kabuki actor Sano-gawa Ichimatsu appeared in a stylish, elegant costume of white and navy, it was especially popular among women, who eagerly adopted the look.
Originally called "Ishidatami" (stone-paved pattern), it was renamed "Ichimatsu" due to its popularity.
Even today, it remains familiar, appearing in the design of the protagonist’s green and black haori in the manga "Demon Slayer" (Kimetsu no Yaiba), transcending generations and appealing to people of all ages.
Colors available are:
- Green, a healing color
- Warm red
Both are subdued yet distinctive, making them perfect accessories for Goshuin collecting.
*Please note: Since the patterns are cut from large sheets, there may be individual differences in pattern placement. Thank you for your understanding.*
