Former professional soccer player, Go Kitazawa. He played in 264 J.League matches for Tokyo Verdy, scoring 41 goals and supporting the team's golden era. With his strong fighting spirit and abundant stamina, he also played for the Japan national team. He experienced a dramatic career, including the "Tragedy of Doha," where they narrowly missed qualifying for the World Cup, the "Miracle of Johor Bahru," where they secured their first World Cup appearance from the brink, and the "Shock of Nyon," where he was unexpectedly left out of the national squad. After retiring from active play, he works as a commentator and is also striving to create an environment that supports children worldwide.
As a supporter for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), he has visited conflict zones, poverty-stricken areas, and developing countries around the world for 20 years, continuously delivering soccer balls to children. What he witnessed during his travels were despair that made one want to look away, and the hope of people who, despite it all, never give up.
