George's representative solo album, which hit No. 1 in the US in 1970, has seen several remastered releases. This "50th Anniversary Special Collector's Edition" features new remix sound sources, distinct from previous releases.
CD1 presents the "Multitrack Alternate Remix," featuring all album tracks except "Apple Jam," remixed with a unique approach. While the original Phil Spector production offered a dense sound where vocals and instruments could sometimes be buried, the official 50th-anniversary remix provided a clearer soundscape. This alternate remix, however, goes further, utilizing multitrack audio with completely separated instruments and vocals. It offers a high-resolution soundscape with a distinct stereo separation and a prominent lead vocal track, bringing out a naked vocal performance that conveys every breath. When listened to on headphones, the separation is remarkably high, offering a truly different and more realistic sound experience compared to the original and previous remasters. This is a debut release of these unique remix sound sources.
CD2 features the "Multitrack Instrumental Remix," containing instrumental tracks without vocals. These are also based on multitrack audio with completely separated instruments, remixed uniquely. The stereo separation differs from the alternate remix, further clarifying each instrument's part. This version emphasizes the brilliance of the performance itself, including intricate details that may have been previously unheard. While instrumental versions have existed before, these sound sources are different, marking another debut of unique remix sound sources.
Additionally, three bonus tracks are included: "All Things Must Pass," "I Live For You," and "My Sweet Lord (2000)." This is a noteworthy collection of reference sound sources for fans looking to delve deeper into George's representative work, "All Things Must Pass," on its 50th anniversary.
