■ Product Supplementary Explanation ■
Gear Antique is a steampunk-style tabletop role-playing game created by Kenji Fushimi.
It was released by Tsukuda Hobby in 1991.
Later, in 1999, a second edition was released by Game Field under the title "Gear Antique ~Renaissance~" authored by Kenji Fushimi / F.E.A.R.
The setting is several decades after the Tsukuda Hobby version, and technology has advanced accordingly.
The world of "Makironi," where the game is set, is a world modeled after Europe during the Industrial Revolution.
Clunky machines such as steam engines, airships, and tanks are commonplace, and fantasy elements like "magic" and "monsters" exist in contrast to this modern civilization.
The game's appeal lies in its gameplay, which allows for grand adventures filled with pioneering spirit, reminiscent of juvenile science fiction novels from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, in such an energetic world.
Because it is a modern world, heroic fantasy-style occupations such as adventurers and heroes do not exist in a mainstream form.
Player characters (PCs) are ordinary working people living their daily lives.
A typical schoolgirl attending a girls' school, the son of a baker, a tavern owner, a housewife returning from shopping, a town police officer... these ordinary people can get caught up in major incidents by chance, forming the basic structure of Gear Antique scenarios, much like old-fashioned boys' adventure stories.
