History of Ueno Fugetsu-do

The history begins in 1747 when the first generation, Kiyuemon Oozumi, moved from Osaka to Edo. In 1751, Kiyuemon founded a confectionery shop called "Osakaya" in Edo. The sweets from Osakaya gained widespread acclaim.

The sixth generation, Kiyuemon Oozumi's younger brother, Shozaburo Oozumi, opened Ueno Fugetsu-do in 1905. After World War II, the main store in Fukuromachi, Fugetsu-do, was forced to suspend operations, but the bloodline of a confectionery shop that has continued for over 260 years was inherited by Ueno Fugetsu-do.

In 2013, the brand name was changed to "Ueno Fugetsu-do Oozumi Shoten." Conveying the continuous passion for confectionery from the first generation, Kiyuemon Oozumi, this brand name embodies that spirit. Ueno Fugetsu-do continues to sincerely dedicate itself to confectionery making now and in the future.
