This variety was developed at the Hokkaido Prefectural Donan Agricultural Experiment Station located in Hokuto City, north of Hakodate. Since 2009, it has been served in JAL domestic first class and is a premium Hokkaido brand rice. While it is not as famous as Yumepirika in Honshu, my wife rates it even higher than Yumepirika. It received a "Special A" rating from the Japan Grain Inspection Association in 2015. It is a variety that we highly recommend comparing with Yumepirika.
■ Characteristics* The grains are relatively large, with a plump and soft texture.* It is delicious when freshly cooked, but also remains tasty even when cold, making it suitable for bento boxes.
