小・中学校の通級指導教室での日々をマンガで描いてきた大人気シリーズ第5巻。
4巻で新設された中学校通級を舞台に、学校生活の中で自身の特性に悩み、困っている気持ちを抱える生徒たちの改善方法を探っていきます。
5巻では、他人の目が気になる思春期ならではの通級利用の難しさに直面。周囲と違うことをするためらいから通級利用をしないことに決めた女子生徒ですが、うまくいかない不安を感じながらも、周りの目を気にして相談をできません。通級指導教室担当の水野茜、平塚優花の二人は、そんな生徒を見て通級を身近に感じてもらう方法を考えます。そこで学習を中心に学校での悩み全般を相談できる「学びの相談室」を開設し、学校の理解を得ながら生徒が気軽に相談できる環境を整えていきます。
通級と医療機関の連携にも焦点を当てています。それそれの立場でどのような支援をしているのかを知り、お互いに連携しながら子どもたちそれぞれに合った指導をする重要さに触れています。
2022年12月に発表された「通常の学級に在籍する特別な教育的支援を必要とする児童生徒に関する調査」（文部科学省）の結果を基に、学校現場の現状と校内委員会の役割などを考えます。
新たな困りごとを抱える女子生徒も登場。周りとの話し方がわからず、集団に苦手意識を感じている女子生徒は、みんなと同じように他の子と仲良くできない自分に思い悩み別室登校を希望します。そんな女子生徒に、平塚は自分なりのやり方で周りとの関係づくりができるように伴奏していきます。
