運転をする事MT車だとクラッチ操作をしますが、巡行しているときに左足を置くためのものがフットレストです。
また高速走行時や峠道などで下半身を固定するため足を踏ん張る時にもフットレストは必要になります。
フットレストの付いてない車種もありますが、MT車ですとクラッチ操作が無い時の足休めのためにも装備されていることが多いです。
純正だとコストの関係もありプラスチック製のものが装備されていますが、アクセルペダルやブレーキ、クラッチペダルを金属製にしているとフットレストがみすぼらしく見えてしまいます。
こちらはフットレストをドレスアップや機能性アップするためのアルミ合金製のフットレストカバーです。
