自らが主宰する〈Brainfeeder〉から初の正式リリースとなる記念すべき第一弾作品！コルトレーン一族の末裔にして、2000年代後半のビート・ミュージック・シーンを牽引し、現在の電子音楽を代表する鬼才、フライング・ロータスが最新EP『BIGMAMA』をリリース。本作は、彼自身が設立したロサンゼルス拠点の名門レーベル〈Brainfeeder〉から、フライング・ロータス名義として初めて正式に発表される記念碑的作品である。
『BIGMAMA』は、衝動と勢いに突き動かされた瞬間を捉えた全7曲・約13分の一続きの構成で展開される。ループを一切使用せず、すべての小節が異なるという大胆なアプローチのもと、超高速かつマキシマリストなエレクトロニック・エネルギーが炸裂。ブレイクコアやIDMを自在に横断する、ダンサブルで遊び心に満ちたサウンドが詰め込まれている。
長編映画『Ash』の制作後、ニュージーランドでの“隔離的”な制作環境を経て生まれた本作は、電子音楽における人間らしさと混沌を取り戻すための意欲作となっている。
アートワークはクリストファー・イアン・マクファーレンが担当し、カートゥーン的美学が作品世界を鮮烈に彩っている。本作ではA面に音源を収録し、B面はスクリーンプリントが施された特別仕様となっている。
