Kamawanu furoshiki are carefully dyed one color at a time using the traditional "Tenassen" (hand-dyeing) technique.
This is a traditional dyeing method where dye is applied to the fabric one color at a time by hand using a stencil. By carefully layering colors by hand, artisans create delicate patterns and beautiful hues.
Because the dye deeply penetrates the fabric, there is little difference in color between the front and back. This results in a richly textured piece that can be used for a long time.
